From the 2007 visitor surveys, picnicking, dog walking, leisurely strolls, feeding the water birds, fishing and watching the wildlife are the main reason for visits.
The species is found in slow-stagnant or leisurely flowing water bodies and tolerates both disturbances and pollution but is absent from intact forest areas.
